Fans applaud Mo Salah after his full-time gesture with Southampton’s Albert Gronbaek goes viral.
Liverpool fans have showered Mohamed Salah with praise after noticing his heartwarming gesture towards Southampton’s Albert Gronbaek following the full-time whistle.
Salah was once again the standout performer, netting twice from the penalty spot in Liverpool’s 3-1 Premier League victory over Southampton. Despite falling behind just before halftime through Will Smallbone’s goal, the league leaders stepped up in the second half to secure an important win at Anfield.
After the match, a clip of Salah’s interaction with Gronbaek quickly went viral on social media. The Danish midfielder was seen asking for Salah’s shirt, and as the Egyptian began to take his off, Gronbaek hesitated before removing his own. Noticing this, Salah handed over his jersey and then signaled for Gronbaek’s in return, displaying a moment of mutual respect.
Fans took to social media to react, with one writing, “Poor guy thought Salah wouldn’t want his shirt, and Mo showed respect.” Another added, “One of the most humble players to ever play the game. I respect him a lot.”
A third fan praised Salah’s character, saying, “Salah is a legend and must always set an example,” while others called him “a gentleman” and “classy as always.”
Speaking after the game, Salah acknowledged the challenge Liverpool faced: “It was a tough game; they had a good game plan, and it worked well for them in the first half. But I’m glad we managed to come back and win.”
Liverpool now shift their focus to the Champions League, where they will host Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield on Tuesday night.
