Liverpool legend advises “brilliant” Reds star to leave the club.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge has sparked debate by suggesting that Caoimhin Kelleher should leave Anfield to secure regular game time.

Speaking to Vegastars ahead of this weekend’s Carabao Cup final, Aldridge praised the Republic of Ireland international as a “brilliant” goalkeeper but acknowledged his misfortune in being second choice behind Alisson. Despite impressing whenever given the chance, Kelleher has struggled for consistent opportunities.

Aldridge believes the 26-year-old should consider a move to another top club, naming Tottenham as a potential destination and even joking about Manchester United. He also suggested that a switch to a major European league in Italy, Spain, or Germany could be ideal for Kelleher’s career.

While he would love to see Kelleher stay at Liverpool, Aldridge admitted the shot-stopper deserves to be playing every week, as his talent merits a regular starting role.
