Agreement near for 125-goal star previously targeted by Liverpool and Arsenal.

Leroy Sane is reportedly close to finalizing a new contract with Bayern Munich, despite interest from both Liverpool and Arsenal, as per Christian Falk. The Germany international was on the verge of becoming a free agent this summer but now seems set to extend his tenure at the Allianz Arena.

Falk, in his CF Bayern Insider column, notes that the situation with Liverpool and Arsenal never became very concrete.

Though Sane may not be at his peak anymore, he remains an important figure in Bayern’s squad, and fans will be pleased to know he’s likely to commit his future to the club.

Falk provided more details on Sane’s contract talks: “Negotiations are ongoing. Bayern, of course, don’t want to pay Leroy Sane as much as he was earning before. He’s currently on €15m plus €5m in bonuses. If he signs a new deal, it will be for a reduced amount. The club and his agent are negotiating a three-year contract running until 2028, with one-third of the payment being variable. The figures being discussed are €9m plus €6m in bonuses or €10m plus €5m in bonuses. Interestingly, he isn’t prioritizing money. Sane enjoys playing alongside his close friend Jamal Musiala at Bayern, and that could influence his decision to accept a lower salary.”

While there were rumors linking Sane to Arsenal and Liverpool, things never progressed significantly. Falk believes Sane’s future is now likely to stay at Bayern.

At 29, Sane has scored 125 career goals, and it will be fascinating to see what further accomplishments lie ahead for him at Bayern in the coming years.
