Report: Liverpool hold talks with Premier League star’s agent over potential summer transfer

Liverpool and Arsenal in Race for Bournemouth Star Dean Huijsen Amid Growing Interest

Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly among five Premier League clubs currently in discussions with the representatives of Bournemouth’s rising star Dean Huijsen, according to The Athletic.

The 19-year-old centre-back, who joined Bournemouth from Juventus in July 2024 for €15.2 million, has quickly made a name for himself in England. Known for his solid defensive work and impressive ball-playing abilities, Huijsen is rapidly becoming one of the most in-demand young defenders in Europe.

A significant factor fueling speculation over his future is his €50 million release clause, a figure that has caught the attention of top clubs both in England and abroad.

Liverpool in Contact with Huijsen’s Camp

Reports suggest that Liverpool have already met with Huijsen’s representatives and have also initiated early discussions with Bournemouth over a possible summer move. Manager Arne Slot is reportedly a big admirer of the Dutchman and sees him as a potential key addition to his squad.

However, Liverpool face stiff competition. Arsenal are also strongly interested, while European heavyweights like Real Madrid are monitoring the situation closely.

Huijsen’s Rapid Ascent

Huijsen began his career in Spain before joining Juventus in 2021, where he stood out in the youth ranks and earned appearances for Juventus Next Gen. After making his Serie A debut against AC Milan in 2023 and a productive loan spell at Roma, he made a permanent move to Bournemouth, signing a six-year contract.

Since his arrival in the Premier League, Huijsen has become a central figure in Andoni Iraola’s side. He scored his first goal in a 1–0 victory over Tottenham in December and has featured in 29 matches across all competitions, scoring twice and assisting once.

Standing at 6’5”, Huijsen combines aerial dominance with exceptional technical quality. His composure on the ball, progressive passing, and willingness to drive forward make him an ideal fit for possession-based teams—attributes that particularly appeal to both Liverpool and Arsenal.

With his stock rising and top clubs circling, Huijsen could become one of the most talked-about names in the upcoming summer transfer window. Whether Bournemouth will be willing to let him go just a year after his arrival—and who wins the race for his signature—remains to be seen.
