Liverpool are still targeting the signing of a new centre-back despite recently extending Virgil van Dijk’s contract, with Dean Huijsen identified as their top choice.
According to talkSPORT, Liverpool plan to bring in a new centre-back despite recently renewing Virgil van Dijk’s contract.
The club has been heavily linked with Bournemouth talent Dean Huijsen, who has a £50 million release clause in his contract. Bringing in a new defender could potentially lead to the exit of one of Liverpool’s current centre-backs, with Jarell Quansah mentioned as a possible departure — Newcastle are reportedly interested in him.
However, Huijsen’s arrival is far from guaranteed, as Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham have also held talks with the Spanish international. According to David Ornstein, the player’s representatives have met with all five Premier League clubs.
