Mo Salah penned a new contract with Liverpool last week, and according to reports, Virgil van Dijk is also nearing an agreement to extend his stay at the club. Now, there’s even more encouraging news regarding contracts, with the Liverpool Echo (via Rousing The Kop) reporting that Vitezslav Jaros is also set for a new deal.

The Czech goalkeeper, who asked to leave Liverpool over the summer, appears to have had a change of heart after making his Premier League debut this season. He came off the bench to replace an injured Caoimhin Kelleher at Selhurst Park in October and later started the League Cup tie against Brighton.

Since arriving at Liverpool in 2017, Jaros has had loan spells at St. Pat’s, Notts County, Stockport, and Sturm Graz to gain senior experience. He was on the bench for the Reds’ 2-1 win over West Ham last weekend and will now aim to push for more first-team appearances next season.

With Kelleher potentially on the move this summer—Chelsea are reportedly interested and the Irishman has just over a year left on his contract—Jaros could see more opportunities. Giorgi Mamardashvili is also expected to join Liverpool’s pre-season squad after his loan at Valencia.

Jaros, described as “brilliant” during pre-season by Liverpool’s No. 62, has shown promising signs in his limited appearances so far, giving fans a reason to be optimistic about his future at Anfield.
