Liverpool sources are confident they’re leading the race to sign the £50m-rated ‘gem’.
In a potential blow for clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal, Liverpool appear to be leading the race for one of Europe’s most exciting young prospects.
The Reds are among several top teams linked with Dean Huijsen, the highly-rated Spanish centre-back currently at Bournemouth.
Chelsea insider Simon Phillips, writing on his Substack, revealed that the Blues have been in contact with Huijsen’s camp for a few weeks and remain interested. However, Liverpool are now seen as the frontrunners.
Phillips stated: “Chelsea have been speaking with Huijsen’s representatives for several weeks and are still pushing. While he looks set to remain in the Premier League, Liverpool currently seem to be in pole position.”
That update suggests Liverpool may be close to sealing a deal for the £50m-rated talent, who was recently praised as a “gem” by Empire of the Kop.
Arsenal, also reportedly keen according to The Athletic, may now need to explore other defensive options.
For Liverpool fans, this adds to a string of positive developments—including the team closing in on a Premier League title and securing new deals for Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.
With Arne Slot preparing for the new campaign, and despite setbacks in the Champions League and Carabao Cup, a promising signing like Huijsen could mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter at Anfield.
