“‘I believe…’ – Liverpool-linked star hints at possible move in interview”

Liverpool are likely to strengthen their attacking options this summer, and one potential addition is Anthony Gordon. The Newcastle winger nearly made the switch to Anfield in 2024, and despite signing a new deal earlier this season, a move back to Merseyside remains a possibility.

Though Gordon came through Everton’s youth system, it’s no secret that he grew up supporting Liverpool. That connection hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans of the current Premier League leaders, who hope it could play a role in securing his signature.

Gordon has made several references to Liverpool in recent interviews, most notably during his appearance on The Overlap with Gary Neville—and he’s done it again.

While participating in a fun quiz with England teammate and Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, Gordon shared that his boyhood hero was none other than Reds icon Steven Gerrard.

“Correct, Stevie G. I think he is every Scouser’s idol, isn’t he?” Gordon said.

The summer could be a defining one for Gordon’s career. Arsenal are also reportedly eager to bring him in as a starting winger. However, if Liverpool enter the race, many believe his childhood ties could give them the upper hand.

Still, Liverpool are unlikely to pursue Gordon unless Luis Diaz departs—a move that’s been speculated amid reported interest from Barcelona. Newcastle, meanwhile, have no real need to sell one of their standout players, especially after recently tying him down to a new contract.
