Liverpool are closing in on the Premier League title, but not everyone seems thrilled — particularly Darwin Núñez.

For the second time, our No.9 has taken to social media to vent his frustration, only to quickly delete the post — although not before many fans caught it.
On Saturday morning, the Uruguayan posted (translated): “No wonder I didn’t play more, because the last game I started in the Premier League went well and suddenly…”

This cryptic remark appears to reference reports from Portugal suggesting Liverpool owe Benfica €5 million when Núñez reaches 50 Premier League starts (he’s currently at 49).

Arne Slot addressed the rumors ahead of the Tottenham match, saying: “Do you always believe what journalists say? Sometimes you should, but sometimes it’s better not to believe everything that’s written about players.”

It now seems Núñez believes he’s been sidelined to avoid triggering that payment.
His last league start came against Southampton, where he scored the opener in a 3-1 comeback win — just before the PSG second leg and Carabao Cup final, after which Slot appeared to favor other options.

While it’s unclear if financial motives played a role in his omission, Slot insists he has never been told who he can or can’t select.
Thus, Núñez’s deleted post could be interpreted as questioning his manager’s honesty and undermining Slot’s public statements.
