Thiago Alcântara, the former midfielder for Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona—who won two Champions League titles and lifted two major trophies with Liverpool—has responded after fans were heard singing his chant during the club’s title parade.

As Liverpool celebrated their Premier League triumph with a parade through Merseyside, particularly along The Strand, supporters chanted Thiago’s name. In a heartfelt gesture, the Spaniard reposted a video of the moment on social media, adding the message “YNWA” alongside a heart emoji.

Though Thiago spent four years at Anfield, persistent injuries limited him to just 68 appearances. He retired from professional football in 2024 and has since shifted to a coaching path. He has worked in a developmental role at Barcelona and also taken time away from football.

When Liverpool secured the Premier League title with a commanding 5-1 win over Tottenham weeks earlier, Thiago publicly congratulated the team, reposting the club’s announcement and writing, “Congrats lads . YNWA.”

With assistant coach John Heitinga potentially departing for Ajax, new Liverpool manager Arne Slot may soon be searching for a replacement. Thiago, fluent in Spanish, German, and English, and experienced across Europe’s top leagues, could emerge as a strong candidate.

Last summer, he was spotted shadowing Hansi Flick at Barcelona, gaining valuable coaching experience. His varied playing background adds further weight to his credentials.

Slot recently praised Heitinga, saying, “If Ajax are smart, they’ll consider John. He’s ready for that kind of role. But if John’s smart, he’ll stay here another year.”

Meanwhile, Football Insider reports that Dirk Kuyt is also under consideration for a coaching role at Liverpool. Kuyt, who made 285 appearances for the club after joining in 2006, is currently managing Beerschot in Belgium’s second tier, where he recently led the team to promotion. However, his earlier coaching stint at ADO Den Haag ended prematurely after a poor run left the club 17th in the Dutch second division.
