Liverpool make firm decision on Alexander Isak as transfer window nears close

As the transfer window enters its final critical phase, Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is once again drawing major attention.

Journalist Ben Jacobs reports that while Liverpool still have a strong interest in the Swedish international, they are proceeding with caution to avoid entering financially unrealistic territory.

Earlier this month, Liverpool submitted a bold £110 million offer for Isak—structured entirely as a fixed fee with no add-ons. It would have been a record-breaking British transfer, but Newcastle swiftly and firmly rejected the bid.

Liverpool sticking to ‘no new bid’ stance

Liverpool viewed their offer as a serious and fair proposal, not a lowball attempt. However, since Newcastle’s rejection, the club has maintained a “no new bid” position—unless there’s a clear signal that a deal could realistically be reached.

According to Jacobs, Liverpool will only reconsider submitting a new offer if they receive genuine encouragement from Newcastle, indicating a willingness to engage on practical terms. While Liverpool could stretch to around £120 million, they have dismissed suggestions of a £150 million valuation, seeing such a fee as excessive and harmful to their long-term transfer strategy.

On Newcastle’s end, the situation is complex. They’re actively considering forward reinforcements, including Yoane Wissa and Jorgen Strand Larsen, particularly with Callum Wilson’s future uncertain.

Newcastle have long believed that keeping Isak without a contract extension is not viable. Still, they remain open to offering him new terms if he decides to fully commit to the club’s project.
