Newcastle United have reached a major agreement to sign Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade, with the 23-year-old German international set for a medical after saying goodbye to his teammates. The towering 6ft 6in forward is considered one of Europe’s brightest young talents, having netted 17 goals in 33 appearances last season and topping the scoring charts at this summer’s U21 European Championship with six goals in five games.

The deal is reportedly valued between €85–90 million (£73–78 million) plus add-ons, placing Woltemade among the most expensive signings in Newcastle’s history. He joins Eddie Howe’s growing squad alongside Anthony Elanga, Jacob Ramsey, Malick Thiaw, and Aaron Ramsdale, as the club gears up for a return to the Champions League, where they will face top-tier opponents such as Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds have been chasing Newcastle’s star striker Alexander Isak for several months. The Swedish international has yet to train or play for Newcastle this season, having made clear his intention to join Liverpool.

Although an earlier £110 million bid was turned down, Liverpool are reportedly readying an improved offer in the range of £120–130 million, which could set a new British transfer record. Personal terms with the 25-year-old are said to already be in place.
