European giants plan unexpected last-minute bid for Liverpool’s “exceptional professional” star.

AC Milan eye late move for Liverpool’s Joe Gomez before transfer window closes

AC Milan are reportedly considering a move for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez as the summer transfer window draws to a close. The 28-year-old isn’t a regular starter for the Premier League champions and is largely viewed as a squad player at Anfield. With interest from multiple clubs, Gomez could be tempted by a fresh challenge in Serie A.

Gomez would strengthen Milan’s backline

There’s little doubt that Gomez has the quality to start for Milan. His versatility—capable of playing as a centre-back, full-back, or even a defensive midfielder—would offer the Rossoneri valuable flexibility. Known for his composure on the ball as well as his defensive solidity, he could bring a new dynamic to the Milan defence. As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Milan are actively exploring defensive reinforcements, and Gomez would be a smart addition at the right price.

Liverpool reluctant to sell amid defensive concerns

Despite Gomez’s status as a squad player, Liverpool are currently short on defensive depth, with only three senior centre-backs available. While the club has shown interest in Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, a deal has yet to materialize. As such, it seems unlikely that Liverpool would sanction Gomez’s departure without securing a replacement.

Manager Arne Slot is reportedly a big admirer of Gomez, having described him as a “top, top, top professional.” With the Reds aiming to compete on multiple fronts this season, including defending their Premier League title and making a strong Champions League push, keeping hold of experienced depth like Gomez may prove crucial.

The next few days could be decisive as the transfer window nears its end.
