Liverpool risk making a costly mistake that could result in them missing out on a £35m signing.

Liverpool have shown interest in Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi but have opted against making a move for him during the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old is set to be out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he could be available for a relatively small fee this month. However, Manchester City are also keen on the defender and are reportedly preparing an offer, according to TEAMtalk, with hopes of securing his signature before the window closes.
Liverpool’s decision not to act now appears to be a significant risk. The Reds are short of defensive quality, and Guehi would have been a strong addition. A deal was close at the start of the campaign but ultimately fell through.
Guehi is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s top defenders and would likely represent an upgrade on some of Liverpool’s current options. Joe Gomez has struggled with injuries and inconsistent form, while Ibrahima Konaté is due to become a free agent at the end of the season. With the need for a reliable centre-back immediate, delaying until the summer could cost Liverpool dearly.
The Palace defender is ambitious and keen to compete for major honours, something Manchester City can readily offer, along with a potentially more attractive financial package. Valued at around £35 million this month, City have the means to complete the transfer, making Liverpool’s hesitation one that could prove costly.
