Tottenham prepared to intensify pursuit of ‘outstanding’ Liverpool player to solve major problem.

Tottenham are reportedly keeping a long-term interest in Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, though they have yet to formally approach the club, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old has been on Spurs’ radar for several seasons due to his technical ability, versatility, and creativity in midfield. However, Liverpool and manager Arne Slot see Jones as a key figure in their long-term plans, making any transfer highly unlikely.

A lifelong Liverpool fan, Jones has previously expressed his ambition to emulate his idol Steven Gerrard by spending his entire career at Anfield.

Having come through Liverpool’s academy and established himself in the first team, Jones is one of the club’s most valued homegrown players. Former manager Jürgen Klopp has previously described him as “exceptional.”

Despite Tottenham signing Conor Gallagher from Atlético Madrid earlier this January, the club’s midfield continues to face challenges. Injuries have highlighted weaknesses in Ange Postecoglou’s squad, prompting the search for further reinforcements.

Joao Palhinha recently suffered a fitness setback that could keep him out for weeks, while Rodrigo Bentancur faces a longer-term absence, leaving Spurs with limited stability and depth in central areas. These issues have increased the urgency to find a midfielder capable of providing creativity, ball progression, and goal threat — qualities Jones has consistently shown when fit.

Liverpool, however, are unlikely to consider selling the midfielder unless an exceptional offer is made.
With Tottenham hovering near the bottom half of the Premier League, the need for reinforcements has become more pressing. The club recognises that strengthening midfield could be crucial as they aim to improve their position and compete in the second half of the season.
