Mo Salah appeared to shake his head in disbelief after being taken off by Arne Slot during the second half of Liverpool’s clash with Nottingham Forest.

The Egyptian forward was substituted in the 77th minute, with Rio Ngumoha coming on in his place while the score remained 0-0.

Cameras picked up Salah laughing and shaking his head on the Liverpool bench following his withdrawal, as well as Cody Gakpo’s, in footage shared by DAZN on X. While it’s possible he was simply sharing a light-hearted exchange with a teammate, his body language suggested at least some frustration at being replaced.

The 33-year-old has previously shown visible emotion over managerial decisions. During his time at the club, the former Roma winger even made headlines after suggesting his relationship with Arne Slot had deteriorated, claiming he had been unfairly criticised.

A tough outing at the City Ground

However, the numbers offer little support for any argument that he should have stayed on the pitch. According to Sofascore, Salah received a 6.2/10 rating — the second-lowest among Liverpool players, ahead of only Curtis Jones (5.9).
