Although van Nistelrooy performed well as caretaker manager, winning three out of four games, Amorim was clear from the outset that he would not retain him. Having a club legend and fan favorite in a supporting role might have created an awkward dynamic, especially given van Nistelrooy’s recent success.
Amorim brought in at least five of his trusted assistants, including coaches Carlos Fernandes, Adel Candido, and Emmanuel Ferro, along with goalkeeper coach Jorge Vital and sports scientist Paulo Barrera.
Manchester United, however, has no shortage of leadership, with figures like INEOS’ Sir Dave Brailsford, Dan Ashworth, and technical director Jason Wilcox forming part of the brains trust at Old Trafford. Now, they just need to focus on building a solid football team.
