Fans noticed Alisson’s reaction when his teammate, Caoimhin Kelleher, saved Kylian Mbappé’s penalty during Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid.

After a goalless first half, Liverpool took the lead in the 52nd minute through Alexis Mac Allister. However, shortly after, Mac Allister’s attempt to make it 2-0 was blocked, and at the other end, Real Madrid won a penalty after Andy Robertson fouled Lucas Vazquez. VAR confirmed the referee’s decision, and Mbappé stepped up to take the spot-kick.

Mbappé aimed for the right corner, but Kelleher made a brilliant diving save to deny him. With Alisson still recovering from a hamstring injury, Kelleher has had an extended run as Liverpool’s starting goalkeeper.

While chatting with a member of the coaching staff, Alisson was seen laughing and joking, clearly impressed by Kelleher’s save. Although Alisson is expected to return to the starting lineup once fully fit, Kelleher’s strong performances may make it a more competitive path back to the first team.

Kevin Doyle, after Kelleher’s standout performance in Ireland’s 1-0 win over Finland during the international break, praised the goalkeeper, predicting that in five or six years, he could be among the top goalkeepers in the world. Doyle stated, “He’s that good at everything he does… If he can get himself playing, he’s going to be the top man.”
