Liverpool fans believe Cody Gakpo aimed a subtle dig at Jude Bellingham through an Instagram post following their victory over Real Madrid.

Liverpool fans suspect Cody Gakpo may have taken a subtle dig at Jude Bellingham in an Instagram post after their Champions League win over Real Madrid.

Gakpo began the game on the bench but was subbed on in the 68th minute, replacing Darwin Núñez. Just 10 minutes later, the Dutch forward scored, securing Liverpool’s 2-0 victory.

After the match, Gakpo shared a series of photos on Instagram, including one where he stood next to Real Madrid star Bellingham. The post’s caption read: “James 4:6. God opposes the proud, but shows favor to the humble.”

Fans quickly speculated that this was a veiled shot at Bellingham. One commented, “Jesus Christ, Cody,” while another wrote, “Cooked him, omd.” A third fan said, “Gakpo and Liverpool humbling Bellingham. This picture is so cold.” Others joined in, with remarks like “GAKPO COOKED BELLINGHAM!” and “Bellingham and Gakpo having beef wasn’t in my 2024 bingo card.”

Reflecting on the defeat, Bellingham admitted: “They were more up for it than us, to be honest. It’s a bad result against the best-performing team in Europe… From the first minute, they took control of the game.” He also highlighted Real Madrid’s struggles to capitalize on their possession spells and counterattacks.

Liverpool now shifts focus to their upcoming Premier League showdown against Manchester City at Anfield this weekend.
