Ruben Amorim has hinted at the possibility of making a permanent tactical change to Bruno Fernandes’ role following Manchester United’s 3-2 comeback victory over Bodo/Glimt.

The match at Old Trafford saw United take an early lead through Alejandro Garnacho’s tap-in, only to fall behind after two quick goals from the Norwegian side. Rasmus Hojlund’s brace, including a decisive second-half strike, secured the win.

Amorim, emphasizing squad rotation, introduced Antony, Tyrell Malacia, and Mason Mount to the lineup. However, a notable adjustment was deploying captain Fernandes in a deeper midfield role within Amorim’s favored 3-4-3 system—different from his positioning under Erik ten Hag.

Speaking to TNT Sports post-match, Amorim highlighted the advantages of the change, praising Fernandes’ ability to control the game. “Bruno is the most experienced player, and he dictates the tempo. Against a back four like theirs, Bruno is the best at switching play and starting attacks. While Mason Mount played higher up with his back to goal, Bruno is better with the goal in front of him,” Amorim explained.
