Manchester United are reportedly in discussions with the super agent of one of Portugal’s most promising teenage talents.

Ruben Amorim, who joined the club from Sporting earlier this month following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, has already secured his first victory as head coach with a 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

Amorim has introduced a 3-4-3 formation, signaling a shift in style. While the team’s early performances under the new system have been mixed, there are clear signs of the tactical identity he aims to instill. To fully implement his approach, Amorim is expected to pursue signings that align with his vision.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United have begun laying the groundwork for Amorim’s potential first signing by meeting with Jorge Mendes, the super agent representing 17-year-old Geovany Quenda. The young winger, Sporting’s youngest-ever debutant, is under contract until 2027 and has caught the attention of clubs like PSG after a standout performance against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Mendes’ Gestifute agency is negotiating on behalf of Quenda, and while no formal offer has been made, there’s optimism that Amorim’s prior relationship with the player could give United an edge in securing a deal as early as next summer.

Amorim, who praised Quenda’s physical and mental maturity earlier this season, highlighted areas for improvement in his finishing but expressed confidence in the teenager’s potential to become a top player. For now, the club is taking a measured approach as they explore the possibility of bringing Quenda to Old Trafford.
