Frank Lampard excluded both Paul Scholes and Steven Gerrard when naming the best teammates he played alongside during his illustrious career.

Regarded as one of the finest midfielders of his generation, Lampard enjoyed a remarkable career in English football. After starting with West Ham United, where he made his first-team debut in 1995, he joined Chelsea in 2001. At Stamford Bridge, Lampard became a world-class player, scoring 211 goals in 648 appearances and winning numerous trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League. He later played for Manchester City and New York City FC before retiring in 2016.

Internationally, Lampard earned 106 caps for England, scoring 29 goals, and played alongside some of football’s biggest names, including Scholes, Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, John Terry, and Didier Drogba. Despite this, he omitted Scholes and Gerrard when naming his top five teammates.

In a 2021 interview with Planet Football, Lampard selected John Terry, Didier Drogba, Eden Hazard, Gianfranco Zola, and Sergio Aguero as his top five.

Speaking about Terry and Drogba, Lampard praised their winning mentality, calling them “great footballers” and “winners” who excelled in crucial moments. Regarding Hazard, he described him as “unstoppable” and “the most naturally gifted player I played with,” highlighting his potential to be among the world’s best with greater consistency and goal-scoring ability.

Lampard lauded Zola for his impact at Chelsea, both on and off the pitch, calling him a fan favorite and a “fantastic footballer.” Lastly, he reflected on his brief time with Aguero at Manchester City, praising the striker as “world-class” and commending his phenomenal goal-scoring ability, both in training and in matches.
