Manchester United fans believe the player’s future is in doubt following Ruben Amorim’s decisive move.

Manchester United fans were left puzzled by Ruben Amorim’s team selection for his first Premier League home game, as a key player was omitted from the squad, leading to speculation that his time at the club might be over.

Amorim, 39, received a warm welcome for his first home match in charge. Fans eagerly awaited his lineup but were surprised to see Joshua Zirkzee starting ahead of Rasmus Højlund, who had scored twice in the recent 3-2 Europa League victory over Bodø/Glimt. Amorim attributed the decision to “squad rotation.”

However, the bigger shock came with Christian Eriksen’s exclusion from the 20-man squad, despite starting in last Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town. The Danish midfielder, out of contract at the end of the season, has been linked with a move to Celtic, although his reported £150,000-a-week wages could complicate any deal. According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, United are not planning to offer Eriksen a new contract, suggesting he could leave as a free agent next summer.

Fans took to social media to express their frustration, with some defending Eriksen as one of United’s standout players this season. One wrote: “No Eriksen in the squad is an absolute joke. He’s been our best player this season.” Another questioned: “Why is Eriksen, arguably our player of the season, barely included in the matchday squad?”

Others had contrasting views, with one fan saying: “I can’t wait to see Manuel Ugarte replace Casemiro. Ugarte-Mainoo is the midfield pairing we need—more physicality than Eriksen or Casemiro

bring.”
