Liverpool fans call for a player’s departure following the Newcastle draw, with many urging the club to sign the same replacement.
Liverpool fans have called for the club to sell Darwin Núñez following their 3-3 draw against Newcastle United.
On Wednesday night, Liverpool had the opportunity to extend their nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a win at St. James’ Park. However, Newcastle took the lead in the 35th minute through a brilliant finish from Alexander Isak.
Arne Slot’s side equalized early in the second half, but Anthony Gordon restored Newcastle’s advantage in the 62nd minute. Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah then stepped up, scoring twice in the 68th and 83rd minutes to put the Reds ahead. Yet, Fabian Schär struck in the 90th minute, securing a dramatic draw for Newcastle.
Throughout the match, many Liverpool fans expressed frustration with Núñez’s performance, with several urging the club to replace him with Isak.
One fan wrote on social media: “Sell Núñez, buy Isak.” Another added: “No one will convince me that Darwin Núñez is good enough for us. Isak, on the other hand…”
A third fan commented: “Liverpool won’t win the title with Núñez as our number nine. His performance tonight was dreadful—just compare him to Isak; the difference is massive.” Someone else remarked: “Isak is five times the striker Núñez will ever be. I can’t believe we spent £60m on him.” Another fan concluded: “Never start Darwin Núñez again for the rest of his Liverpool
career.”
