Man Utd fans respond as Leny Yoro makes his long-awaited competitive debut against Arsenal.

Overall, it was a night to forget for Manchester United as they fell to a 2-0 defeat against Arsenal. However, fans found reasons for optimism following Wednesday’s clash at the Emirates, particularly in the debut of Leny Yoro.

The 19-year-old center-back, signed from Lille during the summer for an initial £52.2 million plus add-ons, impressed despite the hefty price tag and limited experience. Yoro had shown promise during his debut against Rangers but suffered a setback in pre-season, fracturing the fifth metatarsal in his left foot, which sidelined him for three months.

After a long recovery, Yoro made his competitive debut against Arsenal, coming on for Harry Maguire in the 59th minute. The young defender looked composed on the ball and delivered several well-timed challenges, earning praise for his confident display.

Fans took to social media to express their admiration. One wrote, “Leny Yoro has been excellent. He’s been thrown into the lion’s den, but his defending and timing in the tackle have been superb.” Another added, “At least Leny Yoro isn’t all hype. He’s the real deal.”

A third commented, “Leny Yoro is the real deal; at least there’s something positive.” Others said, “Leny Yoro is an absolute monster at the back, can’t wait for him to start an actual game,” and “Regardless of tonight, at least we see an identity, and if there’s an emblem of it through Leny Yoro, it’s golden and inevitable.”

Ahead of the match, United manager Ruben Amorim spoke highly of Yoro, describing him as a “special talent.” He praised the teenager’s speed, modern defensive abilities, and composure on the ball.

“He is very good when pressing high and can handle one-on-one situations, which is vital in this league. He’s an exciting prospect, but we need to manage his minutes carefully as he integrates into the squad,” A

morim said.
