Cole Palmer achieves an impressive Premier League milestone with a composed Panenka penalty against Tottenham.

Cole Palmer delivered another exceptional performance, breaking two records during Chelsea’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

The highly anticipated London derby took place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Spurs took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski, but Jadon Sancho quickly responded, making it 2-1 in the 17th minute.

In the second half, Palmer equalized with a composed penalty after Yves Bissouma fouled Moises Caicedo, who was fortunate to avoid a red card. Chelsea then completed their comeback in the 73rd minute when Enzo Fernandez volleyed home following excellent work from Palmer on the right flank.

Palmer later scored his second penalty in the 84th minute, extending Chelsea’s lead to 4-2. By scoring his first penalty, Palmer broke a 23-year-old Chelsea record previously held by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink for the most Premier League goal contributions in a calendar year. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Palmer has now reached 39 goal contributions this year, surpassing Hasselbaink’s long-standing tally of 37.

Additionally, Palmer set a Premier League record with his perfect penalty streak. As Statman Dave highlighted, he has converted all 12 of his spot-kick attempts in the league, the most by any player with a 100% success rate in Premier League history.

Jamie Carragher praised Palmer on Sky Sports, describing him as “coolness personified” and criticizing Tottenham’s defensive naivety. Despite Son Heung-min’s late goal to make it 4-3, Chelsea held on for a crucial win.

The victory moves Chelsea into second place in the Premier League, four points behind leaders Liverpool.
