Mohamed Salah strongly supports a Liverpool teammate whom he acknowledges is not favored by the fans.

Mohamed Salah has strongly defended his Liverpool teammate, Darwin Nunez, following criticism on social media. With the Merseyside derby against Everton postponed due to safety concerns over Storm Darragh, Salah took the opportunity to speak up in support of Nunez, who had faced backlash despite the team’s recent 3-3 draw with Newcastle.

During a fan Q&A for a Visa and El Mashrek competition, Salah expressed his enjoyment of playing alongside Nunez, saying, “I generally like playing with Nunez. A lot of people don’t like him, but I like playing with him. I see Bahaa [in the video] shaking his head… nah, I like playing with him.” Salah praised Nunez’s unique skills, adding that many don’t fully appreciate his abilities.

Although Nunez hasn’t had regular starting opportunities this season, with his most recent start in the Newcastle draw, manager Arne Slot had previously defended the forward, noting the intense competition in the squad. He emphasized the ongoing confidence in Nunez, saying there will be plenty of chances to judge his development and contributions to the team.
