Manchester United are reportedly considering a renewed pursuit of a player Ralf Rangnick recommended signing during his time at the club.

Manchester United have reportedly reignited interest in a player previously recommended by Ralf Rangnick during his tenure at the club.

Rangnick, who served as United’s interim manager in 2021 following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure, faced a challenging spell in charge, recording 11 wins, 10 draws, and 8 losses in 29 matches. Initially set to transition into a technical advisory role, Rangnick instead left to manage Austria’s national team.

During his time at United, Rangnick reportedly advised the club to target Christoph Nkunku, Erling Haaland, Konrad Laimer, and Josko Gvardiol, according to the Manchester Evening News. Recently, Sky Sports Germany reported that United have shown interest in Laimer, now with Bayern Munich.

As per The Metro, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is said to be particularly keen on the 27-year-old, valuing his versatility to play both in midfield and at right-back. The report noted that United are closely monitoring his situation at Bayern, with whom the club shares a strong relationship following previous transfers involving Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Despite United’s interest, SPORT BILD claims Laimer is happy at Bayern and not seeking a move. Speaking about limited game time under Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, Laimer acknowledged the intense competition within the team but expressed determination to fight for his place. He stated, “It’s a shark tank, and you have to stand your ground. I want to fight my way through and know I have what it

takes.”
