Ruben Amorim prepared to offload two Manchester United players as soon as the January transfer window begins.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has reportedly decided to part ways with two players in the January transfer window, following a challenging start to his tenure at Old Trafford.

Amorim took charge during the November international break, replacing Erik ten Hag, with hopes of a managerial boost for the team. However, his early results have been mixed. After a 1-1 draw with Ipswich in his Premier League debut, United narrowly defeated Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in the Europa League. They then secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Everton, only to suffer consecutive league losses to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.

Following the 3-2 defeat to Forest, Amorim took responsibility for the team’s struggles, acknowledging the difficulty of instilling confidence in his players. Despite his public defense of the squad, reports suggest he is preparing to reshape the team behind the scenes.

According to GiveMeSport, Amorim has identified Christian Eriksen and Antony as potential departures in January. Both players are high earners, with a combined weekly wage of £350,000, and their exits could ease financial pressures while creating room for new signings. Eriksen, whose contract expires next summer, is not part of Amorim’s long-term plans, while Antony has failed to convince the Portuguese manager of his value.

Eriksen, 32, has made 14 appearances this season but only one under Amorim. He may attract interest from clubs like Galatasaray, Ajax, or even MLS teams. Antony, 24, has played just seven matches this season and is being linked with moves back to Ajax, Saudi Arabia, or potentially Fenerbahce.

United are reportedly open to further sales in January as Amorim looks to rebuild the squad and salvage the season.
