Liverpool fans believe the player is “certain” to leave the club after noticing Arne Slot’s lineup against Girona.

Liverpool fans are growing concerned that one player may be “definitely” leaving the club after noticing Arne Slot’s team selection for their Champions League match against Girona.

The Reds remain the only team with a perfect record in this season’s Champions League, securing victories in all five of their matches so far. Their most recent triumph was a dominant 2-0 win over Real Madrid, a game that also featured a missed penalty by Kylian Mbappe.

However, fans have mixed reactions to a significant change in the lineup for the Girona clash. Alisson has returned from injury and immediately reclaimed his starting spot, relegating Caoimhin Kelleher to the bench.

Alisson, who had been sidelined with a hamstring injury since October, missed 11 matches during his recovery. In his absence, Kelleher stepped up admirably, delivering several crucial saves, including a pivotal stop against Mbappe in the Real Madrid match.

The only blemish on Kelleher’s performances came during last week’s 3-3 draw with Newcastle, where a misjudged attempt to claim a free kick allowed Fabian Schar to equalize from a tight angle. The young goalkeeper was set to extend his starting streak to 12 games during the Merseyside derby, but the match was postponed due to safety concerns caused by Storm Darragh.

Alisson, though unavailable for the derby, was declared fully fit ahead of the Girona match and has now made his second Champions League start of the season. Slot had hinted at the decision in his pre-match comments, praising both goalkeepers while emphasizing Alisson’s consistent excellence over the years.

“It’s great to have him back and available,” Slot stated. “But when you look at how his replacement performed, it’s not easy to do even better. We have two excellent goalkeepers who can deliver for us. For years, Alisson has been exceptional for this club, and we expect him to maintain that level in the weeks and months ahead.”
