Manchester United have deemed six players as ‘off-limits’ for transfers following internal discussions, with some unexpected names included.

Manchester United’s leadership has agreed that more than half of the current squad are viable candidates for sale in upcoming transfer windows, while six players have been labeled as ‘unsellable’. This comes after internal discussions, and it was previously reported that Ruben Amorim would be tasked with unlocking the full potential of his squad.

According to The Telegraph, Amorim is expected to work with a more limited budget compared to Erik ten Hag, who spent over £600 million during his tenure. In the summer, United signed Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, and Manuel Ugarte for a total of approximately £200 million.

Though it seemed United would not be active in the January transfer window, new reports suggest Amorim will be given a chance to rebuild the squad, but it will necessitate ‘urgent’ sales. Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg revealed that United’s leadership has agreed that more than half of the squad members are “serious candidates” for sale if attractive offers are made, either in the winter or summer.

Plettenberg also identified six players as ‘unsellable’—Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, and Andre Onana—adding that “two or three” other unnamed key players are also considered off-limits.

Meanwhile, United are reportedly in advanced talks to sign highly-rated full-back Diego Leon, who has caught the attention of top European clubs. The 17-year-old, a regular for Paraguayan side Club Porteno, has impressed since his debut in August. Leon recently discussed his future, stating he was focused on his current season and unaware of any developments regarding Manchester United’s interest, which is handled by his

agent.
