Darwin Nunez shares a cryptic message on Instagram following criticism from Liverpool fans over his “poor” performance against Girona.
Darwin Nunez has shared cryptic messages on social media after facing criticism for his recent performances for Liverpool.
The 25-year-old striker has been under fire from fans for his inconsistency in front of goal, managing just three goals in 19 appearances across all competitions this season. Nunez struggled again during Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 Champions League win over Girona on Tuesday, a victory that all but secured their spot in the last 16.
Despite Liverpool’s flawless European campaign so far, frustration with Nunez has grown among supporters. Some fans have expressed doubts about his impact, with one stating on X, “Darwin Nunez hasn’t progressed in three seasons. It’s time to move on.” Another compared his recent displays to some of Liverpool’s less successful former forwards, calling for him to be benched.
In response, Nunez posted a series of messages online. On Instagram, he wrote, “They are not all, they are some. Thank you Reds for your support, we are all still together!” alongside an image from the Girona match. He later shared a photo with the word “resilience” and posted on X, saying, “Together we stand, ready for what’s next!”
Liverpool, who lead both the Premier League and their Champions League group, host Fulham on Saturday. With Diogo Jota back in training, Nunez could face increased competition for his place in the starting
lineup.
