Liverpool faces a daunting schedule as a new date is reportedly set for their Merseyside derby clash with Everton.

A new date has reportedly been set for the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, which was initially postponed last Saturday due to Storm Darragh. Talks are ongoing between Liverpool, Everton, the police, the Premier League, and broadcasters, as per the Mirror.

Premier League rules dictate that postponed games must be played in the next available midweek slot. However, due to Liverpool’s packed schedule with commitments in the Champions League, Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and Premier League, the derby is likely to take place on Tuesday, February 11, though this is yet to be officially confirmed.

If this date is accurate, it could add to Liverpool’s already demanding fixture list. The proposed date falls between the FA Cup fourth-round weekend (February 8/9) and a Premier League clash with Wolves on February 16. Liverpool’s progression in the FA Cup third round would intensify the schedule further.

Under Arne Slot’s management, Liverpool might face five matches in just 15 days, including the potential Carabao Cup semi-final on February 5 and the Champions League knockout rounds starting February 11. However, with Liverpool currently leading their group, they are unlikely to play on that specific date.

Slot has previously addressed fixture congestion positively, stating in September:

level.”
