Liverpool have secured a significant financial boost to fund an ambitious spending spree in the January transfer window.

Liverpool are benefiting from a successful Champions League campaign as they prepare for the upcoming transfer window. Arne Slot’s team is close to securing a spot in the last 16 after maintaining their unbeaten run with a 1-0 victory over Girona. This marks only the second time in the club’s history that they have won their first six European matches.

As a result of their impressive performance in the new 36-team Champions League format, Liverpool has received a financial boost ahead of January. Clubs participating in the Champions League are automatically awarded €18.62 million, not including any performance or broadcasting bonuses. In addition, UEFA grants €2.1 million for every win and €700,000 for each draw. With six wins, Liverpool has already accumulated a significant sum. UEFA has already distributed the matchday 1-4 performance bonuses, with matchday 5-8 bonuses set for release in February 2025.

If Liverpool continues their strong form, they stand to earn another €9.9 million in prize money.

Ahead of the January window, Liverpool is reportedly preparing to make a combined £91 million bid for Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez and Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. Bournemouth is expected to demand at least £40 million to begin talks for Kerkez. Additionally, reports suggest Liverpool is also targeting Brighton striker Joao Pedro, with negotiations likely to begin in January.
