Marcus Rashford speaks out on social media after being left out by Ruben Amorim for the Manchester derby.

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has addressed his omission from the squad following his team’s dramatic comeback win over Manchester City.

City initially seemed to take the lead through defender Josko Gvardiol, but United overturned the match with late goals from Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo, securing a 2-1 victory.

However, the biggest surprise came before kick-off when both Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were excluded from the matchday squad. Shortly after the final whistle, Rashford broke his silence on Instagram, sharing a photo of himself watching the game at home with the caption: “Yesssssssss! Love it lads.”

The winger had been in strong form under new manager Ruben Amorim, scoring three goals in four Premier League appearances, and his absence was unexpected. Despite being fit, Amorim opted not to include him in the lineup or on the bench.

Explaining his decision, Amorim told Sky Sports: “We evaluate everything—training performance, match contributions, engagement with teammates. All of it factors into our selection process. It’s not about sending a message; it’s a simple evaluation, and the players understand my decision.”

He added: “The context is challenging because we need to win games, and our situation is tough. I consider every detail—the way players train, eat, even how they present themselves before games. After evaluating all these aspects, I make my decision. They trained well this morning and took it professionally.”

In Rashford and Garnacho’s absence, Mason Mount and Amad Diallo started on the wings. While Mount was substituted early due to injury, Diallo was the standout performer, winning the penalty for Fernandes’ equalizer and scoring the match-winning goal moments later.
