Ruben Amorim addressed concerns over Manchester United’s dressing room ‘leaker’ while making a worrying admission following his team’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.

Despite missing key players Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho, who were dropped from the squad, United secured the win with Bruno Fernandes converting a penalty and Amad Diallo scoring a late winner. Fans, however, were already aware of the duo’s absence after the team selection was leaked before the official announcement.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Amorim admitted that stopping leaks within the club is “impossible.” He explained: “I know that story. It’s impossible to fix nowadays because there are so many people involved — players talk to agents, friends, or others. It’s not ideal, but we move on and focus on the next game.”

Amorim emphasized the importance of high standards when explaining his selection decisions, stating that Rashford and Garnacho’s omission was not disciplinary but performance-based. “For me, it’s important to evaluate training, match performances, and overall behavior, including how players dress, eat, and engage with teammates. We’re setting high standards during this period of change in the club, and everyone must fight for their place.”

Manchester United will face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Thursday, where it remains unclear if Rashford and Garnacho will return to the

squad.
