Liverpool urged to monitor Aston Villa star following impressive display against Man City
Liverpool are being encouraged to consider a move for Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran following his standout performances this season.
Duran opened the scoring in Villa’s victory over reigning champions Manchester City on Saturday, taking his tally to 12 goals across all competitions. The Colombian forward now appears to have overtaken Ollie Watkins as Unai Emery’s preferred option up front.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have faced criticism of their attacking options, with Darwin Nunez enduring scrutiny throughout the season, despite ending his goal drought in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Southampton. Diogo Jota has also struggled with recurring injuries.
Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann believes the club should focus on Duran instead of pursuing high-profile names like Harry Kane, who appears settled at Bayern Munich. Speaking to Boyle Sports, Hamann said, “Jhon Duran is a fantastic player. His physical presence up front creates space and makes a big impact, as seen against City. Liverpool should definitely monitor him.”
Duran, 21, hinted at a potential move to West Ham during the summer transfer window, but the deal collapsed due to financial disagreements. Since then, he has regained the support of Villa fans with impressive performances, including three goals in six Champions League matches and impactful appearances from the bench in the Premier
League.
