Liverpool receive approval for a stunning Real Madrid transfer that could secure them the Premier League title.
Real Madrid are reportedly open to offers for a highly-rated player, which could have a significant impact on the Premier League title race. Liverpool, previously linked with the player in past transfer windows, might see this as a crucial opportunity to bolster their squad and enhance their title ambitions this season.
The mood at Anfield is currently electric, with Arne Slot’s team leading both the Premier League and the 36-team Champions League group stage as the festive period approaches. Mohamed Salah has been in sensational form, with 18 goals and 15 assists in 24 appearances this season. Virgil van Dijk has shown excellent defensive stability, while Ryan Gravenberch has flourished under Slot’s guidance as a key figure in midfield.
Despite their success, concerns remain about squad depth, particularly in central midfield. If Gravenberch were to be sidelined due to injury, Liverpool’s options, such as Wataru Endo, might not match the quality needed for a title-contending team. Last summer, the Reds unsuccessfully attempted to sign Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, leaving them with limited midfield options.
Now, reports suggest a potential move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Slot has approved the transfer, with Madrid open to offers that align with their financial interests. Tchouaméni, 24, joined Real Madrid from Monaco in 2022 for a reported £68.3m plus £17m in add-ons but has struggled to establish himself in the squad, even being deployed as a center-back at times.
Although Tchouaméni’s contract runs until 2028 and he is currently valued at €100m (£83m) by Transfermarkt, Liverpool’s willingness to invest in a player with potential rather than proven Premier League experience remains uncertain. Reports in November suggested Liverpool were preparing a £50m bid for the Frenchman, who has previously expressed admiration for the Premier League and its style of play.
With Liverpool aiming to address their midfield depth and sustain their title challenge, securing Tchouaméni could prove to be a pivo
tal move.
