Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has expressed his admiration for Mohamed Salah, emphasizing the team’s fortune in having him as a teammate.

Cody Gakpo is hopeful that Mohamed Salah will secure a new contract with Liverpool as the Egyptian forward’s future remains uncertain. Salah’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and with no agreement yet reached, he has voiced his frustration over the lack of progress. From January 1, Salah will be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs.

Despite the ongoing uncertainty, Salah has been in phenomenal form, scoring twice in Liverpool’s 6-3 victory over Tottenham, bringing his Premier League tally to 15 goals this season. He is now fourth on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list. Gakpo praised Salah’s impact on the team, saying:

“The number of goals he scores, the assists he provides, and the way he creates opportunities for others, including midfielders like me, is exceptional. We are fortunate to have him and proud to be his teammates. We try to help him improve, and he helps us improve as well.”

Gakpo himself is enjoying a strong run, scoring nine goals this season, including seven in his last 12 appearances, marking his best spell at Liverpool since joining after the 2022 World Cup. Reflecting on his time at Anfield, the 25-year-old added:

“I’m enjoying every moment here. It has been a fantastic two years for me, with many highs and some challenges that helped me grow. I’m very happy to be part of this club and hope to stay for many years. As a team, we’re in a great place, and I’m glad to contribute to our succ

ess.”
