Virgil van Dijk has expressed his stance regarding a new contract, as the delay in negotiations with Liverpool persists.

Virgil van Dijk has made it clear that he wants to remain at Liverpool, though he acknowledged that his future is not entirely in his control. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season, alongside Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, with little visible progress in contract talks for any of the three. While Salah recently revealed that no new deal has been offered, Alexander-Arnold has kept his discussions private. All three players will be eligible to negotiate pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs starting in January, but Van Dijk does not appear to be pursuing that path.

Instead, the defender has expressed his desire to stay at Anfield, aiming to become the first Dutch player to captain a team to a Premier League title. “I love the club, the fans love me, and it’s a great foundation for success. I believe I can play for at least another three to four years at the highest level,” Van Dijk told Prime Video. “We’ll see what the future holds, but I would love to be the first Dutch player to do that.”
