Ruben Amorim acknowledges that Manchester United could dismiss him following a poor start.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has acknowledged the possibility of being sacked just weeks after taking charge at Old Trafford.

Appointed at the beginning of November to replace Erik ten Hag, who served as manager for over two years, Amorim has endured a challenging start. The Portuguese coach has lost five of his first 10 matches, leading to questions about his future at the club.

Following United’s Boxing Day defeat to Wolves, Amorim admitted he feels the pressure and understands his position is not secure.

“I know the nature of this job,” Amorim said. “The manager of Manchester United can never feel comfortable. If we don’t win, it doesn’t matter if they’ve paid the buyout or not—every manager is at risk. I accept that because it comes with the territory.”

Amorim, 39, has repeatedly urged fans to be patient, emphasizing that it will take time for the players to adapt to his style. However, he admitted that he did not expect to lose so many games early in his tenure.

“There’s no point dwelling on it. I’m here to focus on the job,” he added. “These tough moments are part of football. I knew it would be difficult, but you always hope to win more games to boost confidence and implement your ideas. Right now, it’s a struggle. We need to survive, gain time, and then improve the team.”

United currently sit 14th in the Premier League, 11 points off the top four and just eight points above the relegation zone. Their next league fixture is against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on New
