Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing a former Manchester City striker following an initial offer they received for Darwin Núñez.

Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for former Manchester City striker Liam Delap as a potential replacement for Darwin Núñez.

Núñez, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in the summer of 2022 for an initial £64 million that could rise to £85 million, has struggled to consistently impress. His erratic finishing has drawn criticism, and he has scored just four goals and provided three assists in 23 appearances across all competitions this season. As a result, he currently sits behind Mohamed Salah, Luis Díaz, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota in manager Arne Slot’s pecking order.

With the January transfer window approaching, reports suggest Liverpool have received an offer from AC Milan for Núñez. According to Italian outlet AC Milan TMN, Milan have proposed a six-month loan deal with a €5 million fee and an obligation to buy for €45 million.

In response, Liverpool have been linked with Liam Delap, a 21-year-old striker who has impressed at Ipswich Town, scoring six goals and providing one assist in 17 Premier League appearances this season. Delap, formerly of Manchester City, has also caught the attention of other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and his former side.

Earlier this season, Slot defended Núñez’s contribution to the team despite his lack of goals, praising his work rate and overall impact on Liverpool’s attacking play. Liverpool will face Manchester United at Anfield this weekend as they look to strengthen their position in the Premier

League.
