Liverpool propose a massive contract to Trent Alexander-Arnold to reject Real Madrid, as details of the impressive deal emerge.

Liverpool have reportedly presented Trent Alexander-Arnold with a lucrative new contract to secure his future at the club.

The 26-year-old, whose current deal, like those of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, expires in June 2025, has been a key figure in Liverpool’s setup. On December 31, The Times journalist Paul Joyce revealed that Liverpool rejected an approach from Real Madrid for the right-back. Madrid’s inquiry was “immediately rebuffed,” as Liverpool remain firm in their stance to retain him.

Negotiations between Liverpool and Alexander-Arnold’s representatives have been ongoing for several months. According to The Mirror, the club has now offered a five-year deal worth £78 million, equating to £300,000 per week, to persuade him to stay. While Madrid are believed to have proposed a similar weekly wage alongside a significant signing bonus if he joined as a free agent, Liverpool are determined to avoid losing him.

Madrid also reportedly offered £20 million for a January move, but Liverpool, currently in a title race, deemed the offer “non-negotiable.” Contrary to some rumors, Alexander-Arnold has not requested the captain’s armband as part of his new contract terms.

The Liverpool fanbase will view these developments as a positive step toward retaining their homegrown star, who is expected to start in their crucial Premier League clash against Manchester United. A win could see Arne Slot’s team extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points over second-place Arsenal.
