Roy Keane has issued a blunt prediction for Sunday’s Premier League showdown between Liverpool and Manchester United, expressing serious concerns for his former club.

Liverpool, aiming to extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points, will face a struggling United side that has lost four consecutive matches across all competitions. Following their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle, United finds itself perilously close to the relegation zone.

Ruben Amorim, United’s manager, acknowledged the team’s dire situation, admitting, “The team is not improving. It’s a little lost right now, and it’s embarrassing to be the Manchester United coach and lose so many games.” He added that fans are “tired of excuses” ahead of what promises to be one of the toughest challenges of their season against Liverpool.

When asked about United’s approach to the game, Keane didn’t mince words. “They have to change things,” he said. “If they keep playing the way they’ve been playing recently, Liverpool will beat them easily. People talk about the history of this fixture, but if United stick to their recent form, they’ll get torn apart.”

Keane also highlighted his concerns about United’s players. “I’m worried about those who don’t want to run. You have to work hard in this game. Liverpool’s ability to mix up their play, attack between the lines, and dominate is outstanding. If Liverpool are at their best, they will hammer United, just like they did 7-0 two years ago. I fear it could happen again.”

However, Keane did offer a glimmer of hope. “United managed to dig out a result against City a few weeks ago, even though they let them off the hook. They’ll need belief and plenty of luck to get anything today.”

Reflecting on United’s form under Amorim, Keane added, “The stats are dreadful. There’s been no reaction from the players, which is very worrying.”
