Man City transfer update: Pep Guardiola reportedly given opportunity for reunion with former player.

The Brazil international departed Aston Villa for Juventus in the summer as the Premier League club needed to raise funds to meet Profit and Sustainability regulations.

However, the 26-year-old has struggled to make an impact under Thiago Motta, accumulating just 354 minutes across all competitions this season. Spread over 13 appearances, his limited playing time highlights his low standing in the squad, prompting Juventus to consider their options.

According to the Daily Mail, Juventus are open to allowing Luiz to return to the Premier League before the transfer window closes. Former club Manchester City is reportedly among three teams offered the chance to sign him, with the other two unnamed.

Luiz, who was on Manchester City’s books between 2017 and 2019, spent two seasons on loan at Girona before making a high-profile switch to Aston Villa. City might now view Luiz as a solution to bolster their midfield, especially with Rodri likely sidelined for the rest of the season and inconsistent performances from Mateo Kovacic and Ilkay Gundogan.

Juventus, who spent around €50m (£41.44m) to sign Luiz, are reportedly open to letting him leave if a buying club agrees to include a purchase obligation in the deal. This move could help the Italian side raise funds for a new striker, as they face uncertainty over Dusan Vlahovic’s future. With just 18 months left on his contract, Juventus must decide whether to replace Vlahovic or risk selling him for a reduced fee in the

summer.
