Pep Guardiola has revealed surprising transfer news, disclosing that one of his Manchester City players has expressed interest in exploring opportunities elsewhere.

On Saturday, City delivered an impressive performance, crushing League Two side Salford City 8-0 in the FA Cup third round at the Etihad Stadium. Goals from Divin Mubama, Nico O’Reilly, Jack Grealish, a brace from Jeremy Doku, and a hat-trick by James McAtee secured their dominant victory and progression to the next round.

Notably, Kyle Walker was absent from the squad despite being fit to play. Speaking after the match, Guardiola explained Walker’s omission, stating that the defender had asked to consider options for a potential move abroad this month.

According to The Athletic’s Sam Lee, Guardiola said: “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad and end his career.”

Walker has faced criticism this season amidst a dip in City’s form. During the summer, he was heavily linked with a transfer to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich but ultimately decided to stay.
