Arne Slot comments on Jayden Danns’ transfer situation following Liverpool’s training ground trial.

Arne Slot has expressed confidence in Jayden Danns’ potential to have a “very good career” after the 18-year-old scored in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup. Despite this, Slot admitted he is unsure whether the striker will leave on loan in January. Danns, who came off the bench to score his third goal for the club, has been making an impact since returning from an injury that delayed a potential summer loan move.

The teenager rejoined Liverpool’s first team in the League Cup against Southampton last month and followed it up with his first senior goal of the season in the FA Cup victory. While Slot remains uncertain about Danns’ immediate future, he praised the young striker’s mentality and credited Liverpool’s academy for fostering such qualities.

“I don’t know yet if he’ll go out on loan in January,” Slot said. “Today was about giving playing time to those who hadn’t played much and to some youngsters. What stands out about him and other academy players is their mentality, which is a testament to the youth academy.

“Sometimes, academy players are used in unexpected roles, whether it’s mimicking opponents in training or playing out of position. Despite that, Danns gives everything, whether as a striker, a winger, or even in midfield. That attitude ensures he will maximize his potential. Whether he becomes a starter for us will take time to see, but he is set for a great career because of his mentality.”

Slot also commended Accrington Stanley for their performance at Anfield, noting their commitment to their usual high-pressing, direct style of play despite facing Liverpool.
