Neymar, who joined Al Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2023, has struggled with fitness and injuries, including hamstring and cruciate ligament issues. As a result, he has only managed seven appearances for the Saudi side, contributing one goal and three assists. Given these circumstances, Al Hilal could see this as an opportunity to move on from the 32-year-old Brazilian.

Jorge Jesus, Al Hilal’s manager, reportedly views Núñez as the ideal replacement. The two share a successful history from their time at Benfica, where Núñez tallied 32 goals and 14 assists in 66 appearances under Jesus’ guidance.
