Fans believe Chelsea’s equalizer in their 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge should have been disallowed.

Enzo Maresca’s team took the lead early on, with Cole Palmer scoring his 14th Premier League goal of the season after 13 minutes. However, Bournemouth equalized in the 50th minute when Justin Kluivert converted a penalty following a foul by Moises Caicedo on Antoine Semenyo. Semenyo later put Bournemouth ahead in the 68th minute.

Chelsea captain Reece James salvaged a point with a dramatic 95th-minute free kick, leaving Bournemouth disappointed despite a spirited effort. Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, visibly frustrated, implied post-match that James’ free kick should have been overturned.

As James took the free kick, Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson positioned themselves close to Semenyo, who was on the edge of Bournemouth’s defensive wall. Some fans argued that their proximity obstructed goalkeeper Mark Travers’ view. Iraola commented, “Cucurella is touching Semenyo, and they scored. It should be changed. VAR has to check the free kick and the point of contact.”

Fans on social media shared mixed reactions.
