Arsenal fans have become enamored with Myles Lewis-Skelly after witnessing his performance in the North London derby.
Arsenal youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly won over the Emirates crowd with a memorable performance in the North London derby on Wednesday.
Mikel Arteta’s side came from behind to claim a vital three points, with goals from Dominic Solanke [OG] and Leandro Trossard sealing the win.
Among Arsenal’s standout players was the 18-year-old full-back, who made an impressive debut in his first North London derby. Defensively solid, Lewis-Skelly was also effective going forward. He made two interceptions, two clearances, and completed 94% of his passes.
Teammate Declan Rice praised Lewis-Skelly’s ball-carrying ability, comparing him to former Spurs player Mousa Dembele, noting his ability to use his body to glide past opponents.
Lewis-Skelly also generated plenty of reactions from the crowd, ‘shushing’ the Tottenham fans after Arsenal took the lead and later stirring the home fans as he left the pitch after being booked for time-wasting before being replaced by Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Social media fans were quick to react. One praised his maturity and composure for his age, while another called his performance “unbelievable” in such a charged atmosphere. Others highlighted his immediate adaptation to men’s football and suggested he could easily secure a regular starting spot.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Arsenal was in talks with Lewis-Skelly over a new contract after his breakthrough season. He had signed his first professional contract only in October of the pre
vious year.
